The sculpture ‘Islanded’ arrises from the Barentszplein, between the Silodam and the Stenen Silo. Artist Anneke de Witte got the idea for the artwork when she was on the quay, and thought of far exotic places. She made the sculpture, which resembles an island on legs, an artwork under which pedestrians can walk.
After a series of autonomous ‘island sculptures’, De Witte made this monumental sculpture commissioned by Bouwfonds Ontwikkeling BV, housing corporation Eigen Haard and city district Westerpark.
