In the Robert Scott neighborhood stand three colorful sculptures: Bold Flowers by Marieke Bolhuis. The artwork is inspired by local children – young and full of dreams, color, and curiosity.
Stoere Bloemen emerged from extensive community participation, after planned murals within the ‘Muren van West’ project could not go ahead. In this way, the stories still found a place in the public space. The sculptures are not just meant for children. Marieke Bolhuis says, “I hope adults will embrace the sculptures as well. They represent the great richness of this neighborhood: the sense of togetherness and diversity, the energy and curiosity of the children of the Robert Scott neighborhood.”
