In the Reimerswaal neighborhood in Amsterdam New West, seven residential buildings have been decorated with vibrant murals. Commissioned by housing corporation Ymere, artist Gino Bud Hoiting created these works, inspired by poems written by children from the neighborhood. These artworks highlight themes of light, water, flora and fauna, and strengthen the connection between residents. The project not only added color to the neighborhood, but also created more interaction and engagement. A great example of how art can contribute to the atmosphere and togetherness in a neighborhood.
Every week, het stadscuratorium posts a Sunday Sculpture on Instagram, the story behind an artwork in public space that gives colour to the city of Amsterdam.
