This week: Samen bij De Boeg (2022) by artist Richard Kofi.
The growing attention to diversity in public art isn’t limited to cultural background and sexual orientation — seniors have found a place too. For this mural, former city artist Richard Kofi drew inspiration from the stories of residents at care home De Boeg and visitors to the community centre in the same building, many of them older adults.
The work is part of the project Muren van West in Bos en Lommer and pays tribute to the elderly and their legacy. It’s likely even the first mural in the Netherlands to feature a walker.
