The water ghost, known as Bullebak, refers to a long-standing myth that circulated in Amsterdam. According to the legend, Bullebak would lurk between the bridge at Bloemgracht and the sluice gate at Brouwersgracht, waiting to pull in inattentive passersby, especially children, into the canal. Sculptor Martie van der Loo aims to create a tribute to this Amsterdam folk tale from pieces of old stones from the renovated Bullebak Bridge.
