Some light in the darkness; this permanent artwork illuminates Central Station’s underbelly.
The artwork consists of 36 transparent LED tubes, installed under the railway bridge on the east side of Central Station. The lights glow up and dim, which, combined with the flowing water and the vibrations of passing trains, makes for a fascinating sight of light, movement and reflection. Thousands of people walk and cycle past the artwork on a daily basis. The work was made by Jasper Klinkhamer and Matthijs ten Berge of Bureau Illuminate and was commissioned by the municipality of Amsterdam.
