Somewhere between the trees in Amstelpark stands a small black hut: PIT portaal by artist Karin van Dam. PIT Portaal is one of the permanent artworks placed by foundation Zone2Source in Amstelpark.
It’s possible to enter the spiky artwork. Inside, the smell of nature surrounds you through the cracks in the wall, and the open roof makes you see the world above in a different light. Van Dam is fascinated by seeds, fruits and flowers that carry the lives of the next generations within them. PIT portaal is a homage to this life cycle. According to the artist, there is a whole universe hidden in the smallest seed, and we are a part of this as well.
