Truus Wijsmuller (1896-1978) was much more than a city councillor, administrator and co-founder of the Anne Frank Foundation. She was the woman who granted herself “no time for tears”, but made sure the lives of thousands of children were saved. On the statue one reads the words Bellatrix Vigilans Beatrix: combative, persistent, bringer of good tides.
