Perfumed with Mint

Ammar Abo Bakr

Perfumed with Mint, a work by Ammar Abo Bakr, brings a dreamy, almost watercolor-like scene to the façade of the Hakfort building in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The image refers to a film the artist made about identity and the position of women in Egypt.

The title — Perfumed with Mint — adds a soft contrast to the building’s hard architecture, as if the work momentarily settles over the neighborhood like a breath of stillness and renewal.

The mural is accompanied by a poem by Jörgen Gario and is part of the Zuidoost Art Route: Heroes of Zuidoost, curated by @rua.art (Reflexo on Urban Art).
