In the chapter by initiator @edodijksterhuis in the book U bent hier, this artwork takes centre stage: Tulpen Palepai by Jennifer Tee, a diptych in the entrance hall of the metro at Amsterdam Centraal, commissioned by the City of Amsterdam and the Noord/Zuidlijn. The 18-metre-long work is inspired by a traditional palepai (ship cloth) from South Sumatra — two large ships representing the journey of souls to new phases of life or the afterlife. Tee created a mosaic from 100,000 dried tulip petals. On view at Amsterdam Centraal!
